BIO
Brittany has always been fascinated by the art of photography. A little over 18 years ago she began her artistic journey working as a photographer for the local newspaper. She never thought that a career would begin to blossom from what she considered to be a creative outlet. After graduating high school, Brittany found her desire to work in the field of photography only grew more, and so she began to pursue an education in commercial photography. While in school, Brittany studied under Master Photographers and participated in workshops led by other prolific artists in the field. After graduating, Brittany started Brittany McConnell Photography, growing in experience with each session, wedding, and special events.
Brittany McConnell Photography was established in 2006, and in that time, Brittany’s work has been featured on billboards, in magazines, and on an episode of “Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta.” In 2007-2008, she was the digital photography instructor at North Georgia Technical College in Blairsville, Georgia. From 2010-November 2021 she served as Resident Photography Artist for the John C. Campbell Folk School overseeing the Photography program, and teaching portraiture and lighting classes at the school. In 2015-2020 Brittany was contracted by Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia in an official photographer capacity. As an extension of her current business ventures she has began working within the entertainment industry with projects photographing the of Steven Phillips Band, History Channels Appalachian Outlaw (Greg Shook), & the premiere FYI's Rusty's Rockfeast with Zac Brown Band.
Brittany’s favorite part about what she does is capturing the nuances that can sometimes be overlooked—the understated emotion, the fine details, the subtle interactions between two people. Central to the style of Brittany’s photography is her skilled use of light to create beautiful and dramatic effects. The ability to view scenes from a unique perspective, coupled with her attention to lighting and detail, make up the signature of Brittany McConnell Photography.
In addition to running Brittany McConnell Photography, Brittany works as a Production Manager/Graphic Designer for Mountain Lakes Publishing, and regularly photographs images for the North Georgia Vacation Guide magazine. In her spare time she enjoys making soy candles, knitting, books and traveling anytime she gets the chance.
